World Series Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game drew 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series averaged 15.71M viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different languages.
